Grove is a Chrome extension that turns supported Gemini and Claude conversations into a visual tree that users can navigate and branch. This policy explains the data Grove handles to provide that feature.
When Grove is enabled on gemini.google.com or claude.ai, it may process:
On Claude, Grove temporarily inspects relevant same-origin conversation request and response bodies so it can identify human-authored messages and their ordering. Assistant response bodies are not retained in Grove’s saved tree. Grove does not access authentication cookies or passwords.
These categories may include website content, web browsing activity limited to the two supported chat services, user-generated content, and personal communications.
Grove uses this data only to:
Grove does not use the data for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or any unrelated purpose.
Grove stores the saved tree in chrome.storage.local on the user’s device. It does not provide the developer with access to that storage. Saved data remains until the user deletes nodes, clears the extension’s stored data, or uninstalls Grove. Temporary in-memory data is discarded when the relevant page or extension process ends.
Grove does not send conversation data, browsing data, analytics, or telemetry to the developer or to advertising, analytics, or data-broker services. Grove contains no developer-operated backend.
When a user submits content through Gemini or Claude, that service processes the content under its own terms and privacy policy. Grove does not add a separate transmission to the developer.
Grove requests access only to gemini.google.com and claude.ai so it can read the supported conversation structure and provide its tree and branching features. It uses Chrome’s storage permission for the local tree and the sidePanel permission for its primary interface.
Grove’s use of information obtained through Chrome and supported-site APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If Grove’s data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will be updated before the changed practices are released.
For privacy questions, contact the publisher using the support contact shown on Grove’s Chrome Web Store listing.
